2013 Winter Stout Fest

2013 Winter Stout Fest

My fourth annual Winter Stout Fest was held on December 7th (yes, I am a little late with this write up). As you will see below it was a beer tasting that will live in infamy, though in this case “infamy” is a good thing. Wanting to take a step up from last year I contacted Adroit Theory Brewing Company in my home town, Purcellville, VA, about hosting the event. While construction won’t be completed for … Read entire article »

There was such a buzz this year that there was talk on Google+ about chartering a 787 to bring people to Virginia. Saturday’s Lineup included: Alaskan 2008 Smoked Porter Brooklyn Black Ops 2011 Cigar City … Read entire article »

Over the past year to two I’ve sent emails to Lisa at Bottle Trek inquiring about certain releases, and have always received a prompt reply. My latest purchase is perfect example. I missed the release of Deschutes‘ Dissident in 2009 and I was determined not to miss out this time around. The … Read entire article »

Deschutes Jubelale Label – Background and Artist Info

Many breweries have taken the concept of beer labels beyond the basic branding to involve local artists and giving them the freedom to design labels that are simply an extension of the artist’s craft and style. Deschutes Brewery takes that latter approach with their Jubelale winter beer. Jubelale first debuted back in 1988. Ed Carson, Deschutes’ graphic artist, designed the original label which consisted of a wreath incorporated into their basic oval label with the serpentine river.  This … Read entire article »
