Marina Market – Online Store Review

marinamarketMarina Market, located in Poulsgo, Washington, opened in 1988 with a goal to bring Dutch, Scandinavian, and other European foods to the Western Puget Sound. I stumbled across this company on a list of online beer stores and decided to check them out. What immediately caught my attention was Berserker from Midnight Sun. I had been looking for that beer a number of years but never had any luck. Checking their inventory against my “To Get” list I quickly filled out the shipment with Coronado‘s 17th Anniversary Ale, Gigantic‘s Whole in the Head, Hair of the Dog‘s Blue Dot, Shmaltz‘s St Lenny, and Sound‘s Ursus Spelaeus. I had seen Blue Dot and Ursus Spelaeus elsewhere but not the others. Finding these beers made this website a good place to search for those hard to find beers in the future.

The selection at Marina Market isn't among the largest that I've seen online but it was large enough that I didn't have a problem filling out an order of 6 bottles. Since their main business is not beer, the selection size is understandable.
Valuewww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
With all online shops, the prices are expensive once you average in shipping and handling. However, each person needs to determine what value they place on the beer available. Since I am looking for specific beers, I will often pay more that I would normally if the beers were local. That being said the prices and shipping & handling charges are in line with other stores.
Packagingwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
Marina Market used a box-in-a-box system. The inner box was a normal large bottle beer cases. Each bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap. This box was placed in a larger box with about 1 to 1.5 inches of packing peanuts around all sides.
Ease-of-Usewww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
It is very easy to sort the beers to see what is available. The search bar can also be used to find a specific beer or brewery. However, you will get non-beer results unless you go into the Advanced Search.

The beers shipped quickly and arrived in great shape. While I didn't get specific information when the beer shipped, it was easy to go into the order from the confirmation email and get the tracking information. I am going to keep Marina Market on my list of stores to use in the future.
