DC Beer Week: New Belgium Sour Blending Workshop

DC Beer Week: New Belgium Sour Blending Workshop

DC Beer Week is one of my favorite times of the year, I click through dcbeer.com‘s day-by-day chart of events like a child opening presents on Christmas day. This year, the event that piqued my interest more than any other was a sour blending workshop with New Belgium’s sensory specialist Lauren Salazar at Black Squirrel. It turns out that the Biere de Mars is a variation of the Biere de Garde, and somewhat similar to a saison. Typically brewed in … Read entire article »

Event: Churchkey DC’s New Belgium La Folie Deconstruction

Yesterday Churchkey in Washington, DC offered up New Belgium’s flagship sour, La Folie, and the three beers blended to create this treat: Oscar Young, Mid, and Oude. New Belgium Brewing Company opened in 1991 after founder Jeff Lebesch decided to expand his passion for homebrewing. Located in Fort Collins, Colorado, the brewery has become a national staple–staking its claim as as the third-largest craft brewery and seventh-largest overall brewery in the US as of 2010. … Read entire article »
