Beer-nog

I have done some “exhausting” experiments mixing ice cream with Stouts and IPAs previously. I had a lot of stout left over from my Winter Stout Fest just before Christmas so I was looking for something fun to try. I made the decision to take the experimentation one step further by trying to find the perfect ratio for a Beer-nog (stout and eggnog). While not a big fan of eggnog I couldn’t pass up the … Read entire article »

Unlikely Pairings: Weather

For my next installment of “Unlikely Pairings”, I was initially inspired by the events surrounding Superstorm/Hurricane Sandy. Up in State College, Monday afternoon classes were canceled. Bell’s Hopslam Ale Bottle, Cask, On-Tap

Once a year a Michigan brewery graces the Eastern United States with an Imperial IPA so popular, it nearly breaks the internet. That very time of year is upon us as fresh Bell’s Hopslam is sitting in fridges across the country. A friend of mine tipped me off to a store that got an absurd amount of cases in, and I jumped at the opportunity to pick up a sixer. Shortly after, Churchkey in DC had … Read entire article »

Bell’s Hopslam Vertical, Nugget Nectar Vertical, and The Criticism

Last year, my buddy Adam told me his plan to lay down a bottle each of Bell’s Hopslam and Troegs Nugget Nectar to analyze the effects that a year will have on each beer. At the time, I thought it was a little silly to not drink them fresh, but I saw the opportunity to learn a little bit more about these beers. Recently, he decided to bring the bottles over to my house since … Read entire article »
