Budget: Iron City Beer – Perfection in a Bottle

How do I describe Iron City Lager? Simply perfection in a bottle. This beer will bring you back to the days of tailgate parties at Three Rivers Stadium and when the Pirates last had a winning record.

Are you from Pittsburgh? Need to remember what it was like when you had to go the the beer distributor and buy a case of Iron because you couldn’t buy anything less? Drinking one will bring all those memories flooding back. I’ll leave it to those enjoying an Iron to decide if those memories are good memories or bad memories. As Friedrich Nietzsche said, “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.” It definitely hasn’t killed me in the past but it has had me wonder what the hell I was doing.

Beautiful clear copper color with very thin bubbles. Head is a thin film with no lacing down the glass. It does look great in a glass.
Aromawww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
The aroma is exactly what I've been missing from the craft beer industry: nothing. I get nothing from the aroma.
Tastewww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
This beer is exactly what I've been longing for: a reminder of Pittsburgh.
Mouthfeel/Drinkabilitywww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
I do have to say that is beer is very drinkable. On a hot day, I could drink the whole case if I just picked it up from the PA beer distributor, of course, and a designated driver was close by.
Valuewww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
The is definitely not one of those overpriced beers that over-populate the craft beer industry. You could buy a few cases for what you pay for rare beers on eBay.
Overallwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
Overall, I'm really happy that I got to try this beer. It's not something I would consistently buy but it is something that I was always looking out for in the store. I can't believe that there wasn't a run at the store for this beer like there was for CBS, KBS, etc. And there definitely wasn't a one bottle limit.
