Bine & Vine – Online Store Review

Bine & Vine Bottle Shop, located in San Diego, California, has a large selection of western US and international beers that beer lovers in other parts of the US are always trying to get a hold of. Some of you may remember B&V when it used to be called South Bay Drugs, but around approximately a year or two ago they were forced out of their previous location in the South Bay. Geoi Bachoua, the owner of B&V, took his time and found a place that allowed him the opportunity to set up a top-notch bottle shop.

My order included 6 different AleSmith releases, 2 from Drakes, Lost Abbey’s Mo Betta Bretta, and Haandbryggeriet Haandbaak. The Lost Abbey release was the main reason I placed the order but I also wanted to finally try some of the highly rated releases from AleSmith.

And now, a brief review:

Bine & Vine Bottle Shop
This was my first order with B&V and I found their collection to be rather expansive: great selection of Western US & California beers and hard-to-find international releases.
There are many other online stores that sell the Western US beers so I did a bit of checking and B&V's prices were a litte bit lower on most of the beers that I ordered. Shipping & packaging costs were inline with other stores.
Regular thickness cardboard box. Inside was an egg-crate storage with a separate chamber for each beer.
The web site is very easy to navigate. There were separate categories for beer, wine, and cider. One could easily add items to the order and, later, modify the contents of the cart before checking out. You had to order in six bottle increments which may not always be the easiest but it makes the shipping & packaging costs easy to determine before submitting the order.
One of the bottles that I ordered wasn't in stock. Geoi called me at home to tell me that and let me pick any other bottle on the site at the same cost. I was really impressed with the service and the quick response. I am definitely keeping B&V on the list of stores to order from again.
