DC Breweries Tour Recap

This past Saturday, despite a continuous deluge of wintry mix in the Washington area, a car full of good friends drove across our nation’s capital to see five different breweries: DC Brau, Atlas Brew Works, Chocolate City, Right Proper, and Bluejacket. A testament to the success of craft beer right now, the longest drive between breweries was 15 minutes. The fun breweries paired with almost everyone being a bit sleepy and hungover made for a … Read entire article »

Saturday, 14 December: DC Breweries Tour

Come one, come all to the finest craft beer breweries that the District of Columbia has to offer! On Saturday, 14 December, a group of us will be making stops at five breweries whose addresses contain Washington, DC (apologies to those in VA and MD!). Most of these breweries are new, and only offer growler hours to the public on Saturdays. So, barring another snowpocalypse, we thought it would be a good idea to stock … Read entire article »

Video Review: Stone Crime

About four months ago Greg had the idea that sparked a movement: A chili stout tasting. The movement wasn’t necessarily one of social importance, but more a movement of beers from the cellars of Paige, Greg, and Russ to make the tasting happen. After a delightful, two day event that including amazing beers including Barrel Aged Abraxas, Prairie Bomb!, and Red Wine Barrel Aged Mexican Cake, we ended with Stone’s Crime. Crime’s base is bourbon … Read entire article »

Bullfrog Brewery — Williamsport, PA

For Paige, living in State College means that she has easy access to Bullfrog Brewery in Williamsport, PA. She went to their last beer release for OUD 15 and made the 70 mile trek back last Friday for their newest bottle release, Et Tu Brute. Et Tu Brute is a “malt beverage aged in oak barrels with cherries”, which in our book translates to “delicious.” Weather wise this release was a welcome change from OUD … Read entire article »

Voodoo Barrel Room Collection Release 2: September 28, 2013

We at The Beer Circle have been looking forward to the second Voodoo Barrel Room Collection release ever since we warmed up from the first one…which was not all that long ago. Paige was super excited for her first visit to the brewpub, as she had to miss the first release because of work commitments. Kenton and Greg, having both been to release number one, were happy for the forecast featuring a low of 50. … Read entire article »

Al’s of Hampden: A New Location! – Enola, PA

The Trip: This past Saturday, The Beer Circle writers Garrett, Kenton, and Paige were fortunate enough to be able to make a rendezvous at one of their favorite beer establishments in the Central Pennsylvania region. The location of which they speak, however, is not the same Al’s of Hampden which they’ve visited on a previous beer tour, this was something new – something the beer community has been much abuzz about for some time now. We’ve … Read entire article »
